Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site

The Baviaanskloof, between Patensie and Willowmore, is a tourist destination where people travel through the scenic area with off-road vehicles, with an option to camp overnight. Due to its popularity a tourism centre was built in the ‘Baviaans’. It has a unique circular shape with intriguing finishes. Beautiful timber was used on the outside walkways and canopies to create an appealing structure. The external walls are constructed with natural stone to form a building that blends into its surroundings. The glass and aluminium shopfronts brought a smart feel to the whole building showing off the internal finishes.  ‘’Earthcoated’’ walls and floors give an aesthetically pleasing look internally. The project was completed with minimal impact on the sensitive environment surrounding the heritage site.
